Juliet leads a privileged life full of diamonds, pearls and country clubs in Lake Forest, Illinois, until the sudden death of her husband leaves her dangling from the Troyer family tree, stripped of her home, his trust fund, and powerless against her icy mother-in-law. Juliet turns to the only place she can, her past, in the desolate plains of West Texas. She packs her introverted daughter, Candace and her precocious son Sully into her Lexus SUV, and begins a long overdue trip home to visit her estranged mother, Alice, an offbeat rancher. In the wake of tragedy, three generations of women will come of age together.
